About Miles for Macie

Miles for Macie is more than just a run, walk, or ride – it’s a movement of hope, love, and determination. Each mile covered represents the strength of one small but mighty warrior, Macie Jo, and the thousands of babies and families affected by hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).

What began as a way to honor Macie’s journey has grown into a nationwide initiative, uniting families, friends, and communities to raise awareness for HIE and advance the Macie Jo Foundation’s mission: to change the trajectory of HIE and prevent futures from being lost to this devastating brain injury.

Why We Walk, Run, or Ride

Every step taken during Miles for Macie is for:

  • Raising awareness of HIE and the need for safer birth practices.

  • Supporting families walking through the challenges of neonatal brain injury.

  • Funding education, advocacy, and prevention efforts that can save lives and futures.

How it works

Miles for Macie is an inclusive event – whether you log your miles at home, at a park, with friends, or at one of our community meet-ups, your participation matters. Together, we:

  • Set goals for the miles we’ll walk, run, or ride.

  • Share our story and educate others about HIE.

  • Fundraise to support the Macie Jo Foundation’s programs.

No matter how or where you participate, every mile brings us closer to preventing HIE and supporting families who need it most.
